Abstract

This research paper addresses the characteristics and objectives of punishments in Islamic legislation. In it, we discuss the definition of crime and punishment and their types in Islam, then clarify the most prominent characteristics unique to these Sharia punishments, along with the main purposes and higher objectives (Maqasid) for which they were ordained.
