Abstract

The Algerian legislature has sought to give effect to the principle of child participation and the right to be heard in all matters affecting children within its legal system. This principle has been incorporated into judicial proceedings involving children, whether they are victims, children at risk, or children in conflict with the law, as well as into various administrative and social procedures. These include socialisation institutions, such as schools, media organisations, associations, and other formal settings. Through these measures, the legislature seeks to foster a democratic culture among children and recognise them as active individuals capable of expressing their views, which must therefore be given due consideration.
