Keywords:
Corporate Governance, Family Companies, Arab WorldAbstract
This research paper aims to highlight the role of corporate governance practices in improving performance and economic growth, as well as in overcoming some of the obstacles faced by family companies in certain Arab countries. The study demonstrates that the governance practices implemented in these companies have yielded positive results in terms of performance and economic growth. The case studies presented in this article illustrate that corporate governance in these firms is not based on a one-size-fits-all approach. Rather, the companies discussed here have adopted a gradual and distinctive approach, focusing on corporate governance improvements that are highly applicable while remaining suitable for their size, industry, market, ownership structure, and strategy. The study also shows that these companies laid the foundation for ongoing improvements by persuading key stakeholders. Furthermore, the study demonstrates how these core governance principles can be translated into practical application and a deeply rooted culture that enables tangible results. In other words, the findings of the case studies presented in this research paper show that corporate governance practices were examined from a practical, real-world perspective, rather than a purely academic or theoretical viewpoint.
