The Effect of a Proposed Training and Nutritional Program on Reducing Body Fat Percentage in Secondary School Students with Obesity

Abstract

The present study focuses on determining the effect of physical activity combined with a healthy nutritional regimen on obese adolescents through the design and implementation of a sports program accompanied by a dietary program. The study aims to identify the nature of the impact of the sport–nutrition program on body fat percentage and certain physiological variables (cholesterol and triglycerides), in addition to anthropometric measurements. It also aims to examine the correlational relationship between body fat percentage and the physiological variables under investigation. To achieve the research objectives, it was hypothesized that statistically significant differences exist between body fat percentage and the physiological variables studied.
The research sample consisted of 10 male students diagnosed with obesity, selected purposively from Ahmed Zahane Secondary School in the municipality of Arib, Ain Defla Province, aged between 16 and 18 years. Regarding the study methodology, an experimental approach was adopted using a single group with a pre-test and post-test design. The following tests were conducted: anthropometric measurements (height, weight, and body circumferences) and laboratory blood analyses to measure total cholesterol and triglyceride levels. The statistical methods used included the arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation coefficient, and the t-test to determine differences.
The results revealed a correlational relationship and statistically significant differences between body fat percentage and the physiological variables studied.
